"Space Candy"

"Space Candy" (2X4' acrylic on plexiglass) is my ode to whimsey (& perhaps with a little inspiration from Walt Disney). I wanted to capture a sense of fun & wonder, and maybe even a desire for something sweet!

The picture frame (not shown) was locally built using an interlocking Japanese style with morticed grooves for the plexiglass. The wood was kiln dried and then I applied a faux colour grain to give it some added texture & colour to work with the art.

"Fire and Water"

This 2X4' acrylic on MDF was inspired by the terrible Kelowna fires in the interior of B.C. a few years back.

"Ocean of Dreams"

3 Panel acrylic on acrylic plexiglass, (each panel 3'X2') framed in kiln dried local Alder, with hardware manufactured here on Salt Spring Island. Approx 84" long by 68" tall.

This work presents itself as the stormy west coast winter weather does (without the wet & wind), but captures, I think, some of the breathless moments these storms can produce.

"River of Thanks"

Presently not for sale. Created in the winter of 2003, "River of Thanks" was inspired by my late partner. He had a stroke in 2002 which tragically ended a brilliant career and left him disabled for some years before he died suddenly in 2008. He was a man of enormous heart & perseverance, and when ever I felt sorry for myself, I only had to look to him for inspiration and hope.

These two images show both sides of the screen. 2 Panel painted plexiglass, (each panel acrylic on acrylic plexiglass - 3'X2') again, framed in kiln dried local Alder with African Padauk, with hardware manufactured here on Salt Spring Island. Approx 57" long by 68" tall.
