This
is my Faux "Russian" Amber, acrylic on
plexiglass, with a few of my trademark butterfly's
& moth insects imbeded. This is of course a
"fantasy" piece because as far as I know,
amber from Russia probably does not look anything
like this, but I have used some classic colours
that often are associated with russian rococo, &
integrated them into this, if I may say so, spectacular
piece. |

This
is the 3rd in a series of faux "amber"
explorations. It is a 2X4 acrylic on plexiglass
panel & has my trademark local insects embeded,
along with some local botanicals (local being Salt
Spring Island). It has maple leafs embeded to capture
a major symbol of Canada. |

In
the year 2002 my partner was struck with a near
fatal stroke after a very active professional life
& has been disabled in a wheelchair since. This
is about my emotions around my thanks that he did
not die, and how I felt I would not be crushed by
this tragedy that happened to him & myself.
His strength through this life changing event has
been a source of hope, & inspiration for me
& many others. I hope to pass on some of that
inspiration, strength & hope with "River
of Thanks". |
