Title: Space Candy
Images in this series: 6
Artist Statement: "Space Candy" is my ode to whimsey (& perhaps with a little inspiration from Walt Disney). I wanted to capture a sense of fun & wonder, and maybe even a desire for something sweet!
Title: SSI Faux Quartz
Images in this series: 22
Artist Statement: Salt Spring has several quarries from which quartz is extracted. This is a 2'X4" faux quartz plexiglass panel that will be used as a coffee table top inlay once I get the final design for it finished.

Title: Storm Warning Clearing at Dawn
Images in this series: 2
Artist Statement: This is all about capturing winter storms that sometimes clear at dawn on the west coast of Canada.

Title: Summer Day
Images in this series: 6
Artist Statement:

A "Summer Day on Salt Spring" represents some of the visual elements here that are evocative of summer. The dry heat that floats in the air, the purple & white flowers in the fields, grass, seeds, alder cones, moths & other bugs.. All of these are native to Salt Spring Island, B.C.

The feeling I wish to convey is simply a sense of floating, of light, joy & wonderment. A feeling one gets before or at the height of summer when it seems that the season has no end.

Title: Summer of Sol
Images in this series: 8
Artist Statement: I really had a struggle with the name of this piece. For me, the unpainted side reflected a sense of nostalgia, perhaps for bygone summer days. The working side reflected a feeling of danger mixed with awe, and produced something that I felt represented war. Something dangerous, to be avoided, but something beguiling. War is presently in the background of all our lives, what with our political "leaders " at "War " with so many things. But I felt that over riding all this was something volcanic, something emergent, something "soulful ", thus I came up with "Summer of Sol".

Title: Dance Biologique
Images in this series: 31
Artist Statement: This is an exploration in 2 colours only, playing with form to create a dance.
